Please note: This page is an archive of my academic home page from when I completed my Ph.D., and some of its contents are out of date.
I am a student studying for a Ph.D, currently researching user-level TCP
and bridging for a proprietary high speed low latency data network.
My work is supported by AT&T Research Labs, and the Royal Commission
for the Exhibition of 1851. My publications so far include:
The Carrot Approach: Encouraging use of location systems.
Kieran Mansley, Alastair R. Beresford, and David Scott in
Ubicomp 2004, Springer, September 2004.
Feedback, Latency, Accuracy: Exploring Tradeoffs in Location-Aware Gaming.
Kieran Mansley, David Scott, Alastair Tse, and Anil Madhavapeddy. In
NetGames 2004, in conjunction with ACM SIGCOMM 2004, Sheridan, August 2004.
Tweaking TCP's Timers. Kieran Mansley. Technical report, CUED/F-INFENG/TR.487, Cambridge University Engineering Department, June 2004.
Engineering a User Level TCP for the CLAN Network.
Kieran Mansley. In Proceedings of the Workshop on Network-I/O
Convergence: Experience, Lessons, Implications (NICELI) in
conjunction with ACM SIGCOMM 2003.
Distributed Computing with the CLAN Network. David
Riddoch, Kieran Mansley and Steve Pope. Proceedings of the Workshop
on High-Speed Local Networks (HSLN) in conjunction with the 27th
Annual IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks (LCN 2002).

CLAN Network. David Riddoch, Steve Pope and Kieran Mansley. AT&T
Laboratories-Cambridge Technical Report 2001.14.
- Tripwire: A
Synchronisation Primitive for Virtual Memory Mapped Communication.

David Ingram, Kieran Mansley and Andy Hopper. Journal of
Interconnection Networks, JOIN Vol.2 No.3, September 2001.
Tripwire: A Synchronisation Primitive for Virtual Memory Mapped
Communications. David Riddoch, Steve Pope, Derek Roberts, Glenford
Mapp, David Clarke, David Ingram, Kieran Mansley, Andy Hopper,
Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Algorithms and
Architectures for Parallel Programming, December 2000.
One piece of useful information here is my cv.
and I find my hotlist useful.
Slightly more exciting is the archive of photos
of me, my friends, family and the scenery round Cambridge, Yorkshire and
a few more exotic locations that I've taken over the last few years.
