Photo Blog #19

Good news everyone! Despite an absence while away for the last couple of weeks, I'm back, and I have photos. I spent the week before Christmas on the slopes of Val d'Isere, and I expect there will be a couple of shots from that trip that make it this far. This is the first.

Flash used : No
Focal length : 13.4mm
Exposure time: 0.0080 s (1/125)
Aperture : f/10.0
ISO equiv. : 100
Metering Mode: matrix
Exposure : aperture priority (semi-auto)

Some obvious post processing on this one to produce the selective colourisation, plus a slight vignette, cropping, etc.

Good news everyone! As I live in Cambridge, I thought it was time I included a few "Cambridge" shots in my photoblog. This one, taken a friends wedding, is in Peterhouse.

Flash used : No
Focal length : 9.2mm
Exposure time: 0.033 s (1/30)
Aperture : f/2.0
ISO equiv. : 100
Metering Mode: matrix
Exposure : program (auto)

I'm also starting to experiment a bit more with post processing. This was has had sepia toning and a vignette applied, which I think vastly improves it. Shame about the lens distortion making the parallel lines in the brickwork and bike rack not as straight as they should be!

Good news everyone! A lovely, if rather cliched, Cambridge sunset for you all. Sorry - it's all I've got at the moment.

Flash used : No
Focal length : 21.0mm
Exposure time: 0.025 s (1/40)
Aperture : f/2.6
ISO equiv. : 100
Exposure bias: -2.00
Metering Mode: matrix
Exposure : aperture priority (semi-auto)

The only post processing on this was cropping. I'd have liked to have sharpened up the trees on the horizon, but I think that I'm hitting the limits of my camera's resolution there, so not a lot can be done.

On a more general note, photography is a bit frustrating at the moment - I just don't have time to go hunting out the sort of images that I want to take, and so find those that I do take rather disappointing. There are two solutions to this: (i) devote more time; or (ii) lower standards.
