Photo Blog #10

Good news everyone! I thought I was going to struggle to get another picture for this week - still busy - but then decided to try and take something a bit more abstract and everyday. You'll also be pleased that it's not a plant.

While stripping wallpaper to do some redecoration, I exposed some old paintwork that had crazed and lifted. A strong side light, and a bit of post-processing to really bring up the contrast, et voila!

I could start posting the raw, unprocessed images too if there's interest. This one in particular is very different in appearance to the one the camera took.

Bad news everyone! I struggled to find a picture this week: too busy to take any new ones, so this one is from August. In retrospect, I wish the front right portion of the stone was in sharper focus, but every photo can be improved in some way.

The stone in question is in Peterhouse's old court. They've really started to let the place go now I've left!

Good news everyone! Another nature photograph! I really will have another subject soon, but nature ones are so easy and convenient. I couldn't decide between two of them today - my wife liked one best, and I liked the other, so I've put them both up.

Good news everyone! It's Friday again!

Slightly frustrating week photo-wise: lots of "almost" good enoughs, most of which were spoilt by the auto-focus on the camera managing to select the wrong thing to focus on, but getting it wrong by small enough that it wasn't obvious on the screen of the camera. If I hadn't been going for such tight depth of field on them, it wouldn't have mattered, and on some that was a bit stupid of me, but still frustrating.

This week's photo should probably have a title. Any suggestions? I left a selection of our traffic-light coloured watering cans out and the squash and pumpkin plants made short work of claiming them for themselves.

This is the first of my photo blog entries that has had any digital processing done: in this case to improve the saturation of the colours of the cans. For some reason (low light level perhaps?) the camera colour balance didn't reflect reality very well on the original photo.
