One year on...

I thought this would make a nice follow-up to this photo from a year ago.

Camera model : Canon EOS 350D DIGITAL
Date/Time : 2007:05:03 08:13:41
Flash used : No
Focal length : 55.0mm (35mm equiv: 89mm)
Exposure time: 0.020 s (1/50)
Aperture : f/5.6
ISO equiv. : 400
Exposure bias: 0.33
Exposure : aperture priority (semi-auto)

For post processing, I cleaned up a bright patch from a reflection in the background, and adjusted the contrast slightly - couldn't really get what I wanted there (I think the shadows on this are too dark) but hard to remedy without changing the lighting.

Osteospermum

I know it's just a flower, but it's one of the better flower shots I've taken so worthy of sharing. I had a couple of hours enforced spare time last weekend, and so took the opportunity to play with my camera and some flowers in the garden where we were staying made good subjects. Something I'd not been quite happy with in the past was the autofocus on close-up and macro shots with my camera - it would focus OK, but often choose the wrong bit. So this time I used manual focus at its closest point, full zoom, and just moved the camera till the object was sharp. Perhaps not the most sophisticated technique, but easy and seemed to work well.

Post-processing was just a levels and curves adjustment to brighten somewhat and increase contrast as it was rather underexposed off the camera.
