Photo Blog #22 - Glint in your father's eyes.
A few months ago I pondered how to create a photo that would let my friends know that my wife and I are expecting our first child. This resulted in what became popularly known as "the yeti with a biro", and I wondered if I could create others that would convey the same message. This one is designed to be along the lines of the saying "glint in your father's eyes", and I had quite a lot of fun taking it - it involved far more setting up, lighting, mirrors, tripods, ladders, and so than I'm used to, and considerable coordination to be subject and photographer at the same time.
It's not quite what I was aiming for, but I'm happy enough with it for the time being. I would have liked the catchlight in the eye to be more interesting, given that it's the subject of the photo. In the end I couldn't choose between two slightly different versions, and would welcome feedback. They differ only in the vignette applied: one to lighten the left hand side, the other to darken it.
