Photo Blog #29
No photo last week I'm afraid, the first week I've missed since starting this 6 months ago, but with good reason. Some good news, however, came in the form of flickr. I was persuaded to add these photos to a flickr account by a friend, and one of them has since been "favouritised". It's not much of an achievement, and I don't particularly mind if others don't like the same photos as me, but it is pleasing none the less. I've also taken the step of starting to enter my photos in online competitions, but we shall see how that goes. The main reasoning here is that you get much more feedback through the judging process than people will provide through a blog/flickr.
Anyway, this week's shot was taken on a lunchtime walkabout when I needed some photos earlier in the week. There's quite a lot of this brickwork in this bit of town for some reason, and although the composition could be better (I was trying to get the shadows through the trees to provide a natural vignette rather than having to post process it) I'm reasonably pleased with it.
I also had to endure the witty put downs of teenage boys from the nearby school who though it was rather odd to be taking pictures of a hole in a wall. To be honest, I had to agree with them.
Camera : Olympus C2040-Z Flash used : No Focal length : 11.9mm Exposure time: 0.0020 s (1/500) Aperture : f/3.6 ISO equiv. : 100 Metering Mode: matrix Exposure : program (auto)
The post processing was pretty simple - gaussian blur overlay layer to soften and boost the saturation, with a mask to protect the highlights (which were a bit overexposed to start with). Finished with an unsharp mask filter.
